As a facet of my "new life," I am having to be more thrifty than ever. I have always avoided senseless waste, but am having to find new ways to stretch my limited dollars. I have recently learned (the HARD way) NOT to buy coffee at the dollar store. Do not let the small cute package fool you. It is not good coffee, in a small quantity, being sold for a dollar. On the other hand, the 100 orange & black pekoe tea bags for $1.00 is very decent, and a good buy. How can I complain about a hot cup of freshly brewed tea for just a penny?
Other great dollar store buys that I enjoy include flashcards and other cute teaching materials and Yardley's bar soap. I love Yardley's English Lavender or Lemon Verbena soaps and I love that I can find both every time I stop in at the dollar store.
What are your favorite $1.00 finds?
Wherever you are, whatever the weather, I wish you joy in small things.

I never go to the dollar store. I should! The Yardley soap sounds wonderful! Lemon Verbena.
What grade will you student teach?
Pom Pom,
I am teaching first grade for my assistant teaching semester. With my university, I have two semesters of internship. I don't know yet what grade I will be with for my student teaching semester next fall. I love the mentor teacher I am working with now, but don't know if she will ask to keep me on... and am not sure if I want to have only one mentor teacher, no matter how wonderful she might be (and is!) I think two different teachers and two different grade levels would offer me more valuable experience. :)
Aisling, think my comment did not go through.
I buy both of these soaps also. Also a lot of candles and batterys....
Ernestine, I don't know what happened with your first comment! Thank you for visiting. I get batteries and candles there too. Nice to be able to stock up on those at an affordable price!
